Challenge: To develop and implement a visual identity to support the work of an evolving partnership between Equity Institute and College Unbound. The TA2BA program, Teaching Assistant to Bachelors, was developed to ease the process teaching assistants experience on the road to becoming certified classroom teachers.
Process: Working closely with the EI TA2BA team and their first cohort of TA’s, I ran card sorting exercises along with interviews of the staff members to better understand the work, the team’s values, and the team’s needs. From the insights gained during this discovery process, I developed a design system for the team to use on their materials as well as a workbook, guidebook for their program participants, as well as tote bags, water bottles, sweatshirts, and signage used for program events. As well as a program tagline based on the African folk saying “each one, teach one.” Embodying the community ethos of the work.
Outcome: TA2BA is a robust yet intimate educator pathway program that stands out from other more corporate educator pathway program identities. Its aesthetic is rooted in activism work from the 60’s and 70’s and evokes a strong communal and revolutionary feel. (photos of brand implementation)
